Trading Futures Contracts - Commodities

No modern country can survive without commodities. Those are the things we use every day. They are food, like grains - wheat, soybeans, corn, orange juice, sugar, coffee. There are metals being traded, mostly copper, gold and silver.

There is forex, or currency trading, there is also oil and gas on the market as well as stocks and bonds.

Now - there are futures. A future contract is an agreement between a producer and a buyer for a future delivery of a certain amount of produce at a certain price. The futures contract evolved when farmers of grains began setting up agreements with interested buyers for future harvests that would usually involve a certain amount of cash as a guarantee of the contract.

Commodity trading is speculating on the future price of a commodity.

Futures contracts often change from the original agreement and then they enter the market and many people have discovered that trading futures contracts became a good way to earn money. People buy and sell the futures contracts without intention to take the delivery for themselves, they just want to profit from the price difference.
